Philanthropy

As of 2013, Sigma Chi's philanthropic efforts have benefited the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Founded by Significant Sig John Huntsman, the foundation dedicates its efforts towards researching the causes of cancer, develop new and improved treatments, and work to prevent the development of cancer.

Sigma Chi raises a majority of its philanthropic money through The Derby Challenge. Also known as Derby Days, this week-long event is highlighted by charitable competitions between sororities, and is capped off with a celebration during which the most charitable sorority is crowned victorious. The Mu Epsilon chapter's fundraising goal for this year's Derby Challenge is $20,000, and all proceeds will directly benefit the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
